If you need to find a load that patterns well out of your shotgun try the Federal Tactical loads with their Flite Control wad. My dept has been using it with our 14" 870s and it has made a substantial difference. It's also the only load that I've found that patterns well at 25yds with my Benelli M1.

The difference lies in the wad. A conventional wad opens at the front when it exits the barrel and releases the shot. The FliteControl wad is a solid cup that has a skirt at the back that expands to slow the wad, thereby releasing the shot. This has the effect of keeping the pellets contained in the wad farther downrange than a conventional wad. The patterns are tighter, and without the wild flyer that plagues most loads. In my limited testing it gives you another 5yds+ of effective, center mass, patterning.

Rick,

My dept. uses Fed's Tac.low recoil loads in 00buck for our car shotguns and I use the same in my Benelli M3(just for uniformity). Whats the dfference in the wad between the two? Or is it the same.

All the Federal Tac loads have transitioned to the new wad. It will say Flite Control on the front of the box.
