I must say I'm intrigued by this rifle and am pondering getting one.

I'm skeptical of AR pistons and I've heard some of the new commercial piston systems still have some problems...never mind not being out on the market yet.

Quick change barrel, multi-caliber conversion kits and they seem to have a good reputation AND they're affordable.

Any experiences? Any reasons to maybe reconsider?

Anytime a new gun comes out, all the gun rags rave about it. Personally, I think they're getting paid for good write ups. So, I have learned to take the wait and see approach.

It isnt a completely new gun the basic design has been around since 1977, The Robinson arms rifle has been out about 12years to get around the import ban and is basically a US civilian made version of the Daewoo which was designed in 1977 and fielded by the ROK Army in 1984. Looks like they added some doodads but the design is the same.

The XCR is a bit different than the Daewoo design. Are you thinking of the M96/Stoner LMG clone?

Actually I've heard good reviews from several that own them/shoot them, I was hoping that this could either be confirmed or denied as I've heard very little about them in gun rags. (Apparently Robarm doesn't have the disposable cash around to convince gun rags to right about them).

It's hard to see the guts of the XCR with all the doodads and rails and mall ninja assesory mount points but I"d be surprised if there was a hole lot of difference between it and Daewoo/ M96. Not to say it's great or it isnt and I give gun rag reviews ZERO credibility. The only reviews I consider worth reading are Gun tests.

Gun tests is ok, but any given firearm will have good samples and bad samples. I agree in general I've never seen a bad review in a gun mag. The "reviews" I mentioned were from people that have them first-hand...not a gun rag, but that is subject to the same "sampling" problems as Gun Tests. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience of other information.

Here are some pics from one of the guys I've talked to about them. Notice the op-rod and three-lug bolt side by side with the AR bolt. The three-lug bolt looks pretty invulnerable. Looks like they could be used to beat someone if the rifle failed.

The M96 is an entirely different system if I understand correctly.

I guess that's a rousing mixed review. Though it seems you have to really break them in to get them run properly.

Thanks Rick. :)
