Not soon enough, for sure, Brian! :)
I wanted to hold one at the next match, we'll see. Just totally slammed and too damn busy right now at this moment. :(
We also need a Range Safety Officer (RSO) class soon, too...

Unfortunately, Angie and I will be in training at Blackwater during the June 7th TSA match. I really hate to miss your monthly match.
Do you think that NCRR could hold a TSA classifier?

Sure, we'll make NCRR a TSA Club and you can hold matches...
Actually, the TSA Classifier is designed for indoor ranges.
We'll get the classifier added to the TSA Rule Book as soon. Right now Dave Sevigny is going over it to make sure I got everything right, and it's clear and easy to understand.

So what does the classifier mean for us NSPs?
Is it just to make sure we shoot safely or are there broader competition issues?

TSA should not have GM, M, expert or A, B, C.........
We need to reinvent this. starting at the bottom
NSP (No shoot prick)
HHS (Hostage head shot) IE those most likely to hit the No shoot in the head)
I nominate Zig to head up this class.
MDM (Mostly doesnt Miss)
and at the top the
DTQ's (for Damn that was quick)
I'm open to more suggestions.

I can't speak for Mike Wood (the new VP of IDPA at NCRR) but it seems like it would be easy to substitute one of the Thursday night IDPA matches with the TSA classifier. You could certainly classify alot of shooters that way. It would also introduce alot of IDPA shooters to TSA (for those who aren't already familiar with TSA). Lastly, it would be an opportunity for the shooters to see where they rank in TSA in comparison to IDPA.
Mike, what do you think? Is this possible?

D.R.,
I spoke with John Card (from NCRR) last night and he said he would be more than happy to hold a TSA classifier at NCRR.
So there ya go. Let's get this show on the road;)

I hope Card had some intention of consulting me on this Brian. At the risk of sounding negative, Card is not running the Defensive pistol program, I am. I'm sure NCRR would put this under my long list of responsibilities. Having said that, at this point I am not opposed to it at all. With the following we have and the activity our club has it would be a huge help to TSA, and I've made my position clear on my support for TSA in the past.
Also you can definately count on Card or myself to run the match exactly to the rulebook specs just like the 2 of us have ran the IDPA classifiers and not something similar like some past classifiers I've shot.; We'll need targets and the revamped Classifier COF. We do not need to sacrifice a match for it, we can run it on a weekend or something with board approval the same as we do IDPA classifiers.

Good deal... :)
I've rewritten the TSA Classifier for clarity and Dave Sevigny is reviewing it right now, making sure there are no questions or problems.
I'll post the CoF here and in the rule book shortly.

Question: Should the TSA Classifier be shot from concealment?
Dave Sevigny and I have been in touch and we've both spent a lot of time pondering this issue. We both agree that it's important to point out that the "Classifier" serves ONE PURPOSE AND ONE PURPOSE ONLY...
It's there simply to determine your pure, unadulterated skill level. And nothing should get in the way or hinder your performance during this measurement.
I know a lot of guys fight their Hawaiian shirt, windbreaker or vest in matches. :( I myself have lost matches because of the gun or mag hanging up on the draw or reload. :o
Further, I think guys could easily SANDBAG the classifier by using a bulky or sub-standard cover garment.
Now, I know TSA is setup to test GUNS, GEAR & SHOOTING TECHNIQUE. But that's what the scenario's are for. The classifier, on the other hand, should be a skills test ONLY. Heck, we'll even let you re-shoot parts of it in the event of a jam or mental mistake!
So, they're be plenty of time to shoot from concealment...

DR,
When are we going to get to see what the quallifier consists of? Also I remember reading on here somewhere that you will equate a TSA classification to one that is held for IDPA or IPSC if a person cannot get to shoot one of your classifiers. I see there is a GM level, what will the others be? MA, EX, SS, MM as in IDPA? or GM, M, A, B, C, D as in IPSC?
