I was reading the forum about the 2008 SGN and decided to express my opinion about the awards process. I am curious as to why you are only awarding trophies for 1st place in each division? I mean, we all know who's going to win them, especially since you can shoot two different divisions in the same match. Every division will end up being covered by at least two or three grandmasters. That doesn't give any of your local shooters who are at the expert and master level a shot at winning an award...

To me (and others), this comes off like you are snubbing your local shooters and only catering to the big name grandmasters. Are GM's the ones who show up every month to shoot your local matches and support your organization? Are the GM's the ones who attend you shooting school which supports your organization? (except Simes) Are the GM's the ones who help set up and tear down stages? Are the GM's the ones who help design the stages? Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely understand the importance of having the "big name" shooters show up at your match. I would just encourage you not to forget the rest of us in the process.

Funny, some GM's (who are full time, Top Professional Shooters) have told me that they don't like the way I award merchandise prizes by the "Luck of the draw". They feel as though merchandise prizes should be awarded by order of finish.

They need to consider that about 90% of the TSA membership is comprised of your average "Joe Shooter". I for one feel anyone who enters should be able to win a gun just for showing up.

I also I feel the Pro's are being a bit greedy on this issue :o (incidentally, Dave Sevigny & Rick Simes are not in that category. They are two of the finest individuals I know and I'm honored that they consider my their friend  ).

Why don't you have shooter classifications in TSA? Even though the poll on the last forums regarding this issue revealed that 80% of the shooters "could care less about it" and despite the fact that I have been advised to "avoid it like the plague", I have decided that we are going to have classifier matches and classification awards for the Street Gun Nationals this year.

As I said on the Street Gun Nationals DVD that Dave Sevigny had developed a TSA Classifier for us (one with a REAL Grand Master Division  ) and I said we have more prizes, gun divisions and awards. I also said we would have Match Scoring Software in place for the next SGN match. Well, guess what??

WE NOW DO!!

GM's dont wake up one day and become GM's they get good training and they practice. People arnt good because they are paid to shoot they are paid to shoot because they were dedicated to the sport had some natural talent and practiced alot. Those guys will beat me but I'm in the 80% category that doesnt care. I am proud of some of my class wins in USPSA and IDPA but as long as I knew the breakdown ahead of time it doesnt matter. I do think keeping the prize table random drawing is a good idea though.

It will be interesting to see how the classifications from the other two sports compare to TSA. May want to have the competitors declare any classifications they hold when they shoot the classifier.:D
