What kind of holster? Inside the pants or hip holsters seem to be the most popular. Also, what kind of gun are we talking?

A violin case, does a good job with a Tommy gun.

You've asked a very tough question, because if you ask 100 enthusiasts about their best holster, you'll probably get 101 different answers (I threw in the extra one because some of us can't make up our minds :) ). Personally I like a high ride leather hip holster; Milt Sparks makes my favorite, but HBE Leatherworks is great too (not that there aren't dozens of good holstermakers out there). Kydex is great on the range, but I find leather is much more comfortable. Also, I despise inside the waistband designs. Having said this, one must recognize there are just as many people out there who will say nearly the opposite of what I just said. So, while we can guide you to quality choices, you're probably going to have to spend some time carrying a gun in different holsters to know what works best for you.

I need a clip on holster for my Glock 23. I wear dress pants and dress belt, but have to leave the gun in the car when I go to work. Any suggestions?

I have used Peter's holsters for several years with no problems. He has a great design that is easily put on and taken off with no snaps and without taking your belt on and off. Check out the link above and read the product descriptions.

The holster I've carried with the most often is my Milt Sparks Summer Special. It is thin, comfortable and secure. I find the rough-out leather to grip my shirt and make the gun feel lighter. Of course, the waiting time is now up to 6-8 months! I also like the Cross-Breed Super Tuck--every comfortable, but it is a pain in the neck to put on and take off. Then again, if I'm carrying a revolver, I like an outside the pants holster. Don Hume makes a great selection.
