View Full Version : Do you carry at home?

I've seen comments on other forums by a few who mentioned carrying practically 24/7. I tried carrying around the house one day, mostly to get the feel of a new holster, and my wife kept looking at me as though I had a few loose screws. If you do carry at home, what do you carry, and to what extreme do you go to keep the gun at hand (for example, do you take the gun into the shower, or leave it by the sink)? Also, have you ever had a neighbor spot you carrying (getting the mail, doing yard work, or whatever) and either question you or complain?
I had another train of thought pop up after I originally put this question together... Do you ever wear body armor at home? Or wear concealable armor while out about town (and not on the job)?

There is such a thing as casual carry. ;) I just slip the gun inside the waist belt with shirt pulled over it and go get the mail or whatever. My guns are never far from me at home. I have several around the house in strategic locations.

I think I feel the most vulnerable at home when in the shower. Is it just me or what?

I had a tenant (the name Woody ring a bell?) that kept a j frame duct taped to the underside of the toilette, When I asked him why ? He said think about it when are you more vulnerable than sitting with your pants around your ankles.

I don't carry a weapon but at home my CX4 Storm carbine is where I can get to it in a hurry. Love that gun now that I fixed the trigger.

Yeah, I feel naked in the shower too! That's why I had a special Ruger LCP made up by Robar guns--Match grade .38 Super barrel, water proof NP3 finish, all checkering removed, all ammunition dipped in Karry-ite-poly-ropa-try-carbonate coating (waterproofing) and a LaserMax recoil guide rod laser tucked safely inside the dust cover. When I'm in the shower, I carry it on a tactical para cord around my neck. Of course, I carry the gun chamber empty, just in case I mistake it for soap on a rope.

While I don't carry in the house, I kind of like the old credit card view, don't leave the house without it. I had a very good friend that almost got taken out by a guy in his own yard:rolleyes:. He was busy and not thinking about who the stranger was in his yard. Everything came out OK, but it could have easily gone the other way. I don't even go to my shed without getting something to go with me. Think snake, :eek:either no legs or two legs and leave it at that. Now lets stay safe out there people and lets get really for the SGN's.
