Has anyone EVER seen D.R. Middlebrooks actually shoot without sights? I mean, ALIVE and in person? I wonder how many takes it took to get it right for the FIST-FIRE DVD's?? He calls himself the "GREATEST POINT SHOOTER IN THE WORLD" but is he really? And is what he teaches original material? I'd be curious to find out...

I think you guys are the ones drinking the cool aid. DR has you brain washed. He didn't invent Point Shooting and as Rob Pincus says "DR is teaching nothing new"

I've known DR since the early 80s. I've seen him shoot with sights, red dot, and no sights, race gun and carry guns. Believe me, he is the real deal. If you want to find out, pay him a visit. His methods are not only original but he can back them up with logical explanations as to how specific movements and positions work to minimize recoil and aid in the proper indexing of the weapon.
It amazes me how some people will instantly accept the teachings of someone with little (if any) proven track record in any arena -be it competition or combat -simply because they have been successful in marketing themselves, yet they are remiss to even consider a method espoused by one of the best shooters of the past several decades.
Modern shooting technique has progressed quite a bit since the introduction of the Weaver technique. That being said, we would all still be shooting one handed if people discounted that innovative technique (for its time) like they try to discount DR's method now.
By the way....the NRA sent me that Focus Pocus DVD some time ago and I threw it in the trash. If that's what you have to do to sell a technique (convince the NRA to send it out and ask members for money) then I question the motives from the beginning.

I've seen him shoot at 100 yards live with no sights. Alive and in person, my wife too.
Basically you don't know what you're talking about.

Art,
Yes, DR can make those shots, cold, no warm-up. I've seen him do it.
No, DR did not "invent" point shooting, he's never claimed that. What he has done is evolve point shooting into a science. Technique that is consistent and repeatable, and useful far beyond just a few feet.
For Pincus to say that DR is not teaching anything new shows either woeful ignorance or outright deceit.

If I'm "teaching nothing new" then all ANYONE has to do is bring fourth evidence to prove me wrong. Just find something that predates the articles written about my system in the gun rags.
Oh, yeah, then show me some "Vintage" footage or photo's of guys doing the things I do:

It took me three days of class to get the hang of it. I can't shoot like DR or Barb (yet ;) ) but I do feel very confident and I'm much faster now, simply because I can point shoot at extreme CQB distances instead of trying to use bi-tri-focals to see my sights. :o

Who's the Greatest Point Shooter in the World Today?
