Being new to CCW, I'm looking at carry holsters and more importantly, vests. I see lot's of guys with photographers vests being used as a concealment garment. Plenty of pockets, maybe too many.
What all do you guys carry in your vest?

Vests are like womens pocket books. The bigger they are, the more crap we carry in them! :D
I would consider some or even all of these items (not necessarily in this order) :
- A REAL wallet (carry a fake in your pants with old credit cards, old license, a few bucks, etc.).
- Cell phone
- Compression bandage
- Flashlight (or two)
- A knife or two, or three
- Pen & notebook (may need to write a plate number down, or if you're like me remember what the hell you went to the store to get! :o)
- Sharp pointy thingy (to poke their eyes out)
- Compact Mirror (to look around corners)
- Leatherman Tool
- Flexible hand cuffs
- Pepper spray
- Box opener
- Ear plugs
Am I forgetting anything?

I'd consider carrying Combat Gauze instead of a compression bandage if you have to carry just one. Both are preferred and a tourniquet would even be better.

I personally only use a vest for competition but not all the time. I have a heavyweight vest that sweeps out of the way very well because all the pockets (which are usually empty) make it stiff.
I try not to draw attention to myself in day to day wear. I dress normally (without the "Photog" vest that screams GUN) and choose a holster that HUGS my body well. This is the same holster I use to compete and I occasionally compete in my street clothes as well. I practice both ways.
