Police Officers Killed By Guns On Duty Up 24% From Last Year
Sunday, December 13th, 2009 7:27 am

2009 was a particularly perilous year for police officers involved in gun disputes, reports the Associated Press. The number killed in the line of duty by gunfire increased 24 percent from 2008, say preliminary statistics from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. As of Saturday, 47 police officers had died nationwide after being shot while on duty, up from 38 for the same time in 2008, which was the lowest number of gunfire deaths since 1956.

Experts are surprised by the number of officers who have been targeted by gunmen. “There’s an increasingly desperate population out there,” said Eugene O’Donnell, a professor of police studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. “Other than in rare cases for ideological reasons, we really haven’t seen people taking on the cops head-to-head. Something is amiss. It should be cause for grave concern.” Contributing to this year’s spike are cases in which several officers were shot and killed in groups: four officers last month near Seattle; four in Oakland in March; three officers in Pittsburgh in April; and two officers in Okaloosa County, Fl., in April.

Passed a law in the middle of the night; limiting law abiding citizens just a week or so ago. Today, I have to bring my Step-Son Kyle to NJIT who went from an A Struggling in his classes- Why DR?

The Lab inside where they work? I am talking about NJIT here 20k a year. The Windows are shattered; the chairs are chained to the tables; yes- CHAINED to the Tables. And their is grafitti all over the place. It's a DUMP.

NJIT is located in Newark where a Police officer was shot in the face from a Shotgun and died.

My Cousin Michael Depalma is a Police Officer in Hoboken NJ and said although things were cleaning up there; they are getting worse now.

Official 2009 FBI Reports state: Crime has went DOWN since more people are getting firearms and training-- DOWN! Yet that was not reported, or if it was, just touched on briefly.

From what I understand the US is working with the UN on a Complete Gun Control Ban - Similiar to that of Europe; wow that has worked out well for them there!

That is why this year; my Family and I made purchases from the NRA Website for Xmas- to continue to support them. That is a good idea for everyone.
