Went to the range today for the first time after watching the DVD closely and working on my grips. On my last series I was 8 of 8 shooting from the "partial" positing (no use of sights), from 10 yards with an 8 inch target. Then I did a reload and missed 3 out of 4. Guess I lost my index on the reload. Anyway I was happy with the first day.

I feel pretty good about my grip with one exception, I don't know what to do with my strong side thumb. WHere it falls naturally is laying on top of my weak side hand. However, in that position it rubs the slide release on my XDM and seems to cause some failure to load the next round. On the DVD it looks like no one puts it under the weak hand. So, where is the best place to put that strong side thumb? Anywhere out of the way of the slide release okay?

You should not be "squeezing inwards" with the thumb on the slide release nor "pushing downwards" with it either...

Just leave it off the slide release (move it outwards a bit) and see what happens. Let me know.
