Got this from shooting great John Farnham:
"Friends don't let friends carry Glocks! I have personally witnessed two KBs -- one a G22, the other a G30. If anyone insists on carrying a POS Glock in any caliber other then 9mm, I STRONGLY recommend a replacement barrel w/conventional rifling and full case head support. This issue needs WIDE dissemination!"

John is hardly a "shooting great" because he can't shoot great. :o He's also wrong about this...
It's the ammo.

Just because someone can't shoot as well as you doesn't mean they can't shoot well, DR...

That's true, but we are talking about a guy who can't shoot all that great. :o John finished DEAD LAST in the IPSC Nationals back in 1981. :p The only people be beat were the ones that got DQ'd.

Yeah, but you gotta admit that a fully supported barrel will really help. But how does that effect reliability?

I've seen many 1911's with fully supported barrels grenade. :( But a fully supported barrel does help to prevent case rupture. Here's a picture of factory Federal Ammo that ruptured in Glock I was shooting:

Federal admitted it was the ammo (bad casing) and made good on repairs and also on the ammo.

Wouldn't a fully supported chamber have helped in that instance?

Nope...
I had a case of that ammo and used the once fired brass from that lot for reloading IPSC ammo in my personal STI gun (yes, I have shot some IPSC in my day ;) ).
I had a customer buy some of that brass from me for use in a STI that I built. He had 3 case ruptures and I blamed it on his reloading. Later I had one myself :o with my hand loaded match ammo, so it wouldn't have helped in that Glock either.:(

Glocks were adopted by alot of law enforcement agencies to replace revolvers, Training was lacking and what there was probably wasnt great.
Cop gets issue gun slaps in a magazine locks and loads holsters, works his shift, draws gun drops mag racks slide, catches that round he is accountable for sticks it back into the top of the magazine secures gun. Next day repeat, over and over for the next 6 months till qualification time not noticing the bullet is setback pretty deep in the case. pulls out gun and KABOOM, Then like good Americans we run off to look for someone to suit. Must be the gun, must be the ammo, must be the guy that runs the range, or the janitor, or the fumes from the pinesol in the bathroom, anything but our own incompetence.

Good point about the repeatedly chambering the same round over and over and pushing the bullet back into the case. Some factory fodder is not even taper crimped  and I've seen the bullet get pushed back into the case after just one or two chamberings.
But it's still ammo related, not Glock related...

Taking the shooting part fwiw when one looks at glocks and safety they are top notch.
I and others I know have shoot more rounds through Glocks than any sane person so it would go to say more than someone trashing them. Most pistols will fire out of battery and that is what causes case rupture often times. There are many reasons for this but usally not related to the pistol/pistol design though the Glock is designed to fire when others will choke.
Things I have come to grips with - chamber check even factory ammo (both WW Bulk 40 and Rem UMC in Sig I have found out of speck ammo to include upside down primers from time to time. Keep the firearm or at least the chamber clean with good recoil springs. Guess wha? It should be the same with shooters of all firearms not just Glocks.
Glock bashing is like bashing reheads. I like the redheaded ladies and I like Glocks. I can own any firearm and I chose Glock after owning and shooting many others. Glock has a record like no other considering how many have been sold, How many are used have been used by LEOs.
Anyone can use the stump to get attention look at this countries President.
